Privacy Policy – AbleU

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 22, 2026

Thank you for joining Ableversity. We at Ableversity (“Ableversity”, “we”, “us”, “our”) respect your privacy and want you to understand how we collect, use, and share data about you. This Privacy Policy describes the personal data we process and your rights to access, correct, and delete that data.

Unless we say otherwise or link to a different policy, this Privacy Policy applies when you visit or use the AbleU web application and iOS/Android mobile applications, the ableversity.com website and blog, and our related services (together the “Services”), including Career Services and Hands-on Study Labs, whether the service is performed in the app, by email, or by our staff on third-party tools. It also applies to data we collect from you about purchases made on third-party marketplaces (such as Udemy) where those purchases relate to our courses. By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

A. What Data We Collect

A.1 Data You Provide Directly

We collect the data you enter or that providers share with you when you sign in through them:

Account Data

To use most features you need an account. We collect and store your email address (your password is stored only as a salted cryptographic hash), display name, profile photo (if you provide one), optional phone number, and preferred language.

Onboarding and Survey Data

During onboarding we may collect survey data such as how you heard about us, your experience with Splunk and IT, and your industry. If you ask to speak with an advisor, we also collect the contact details you provide for that purpose (for example, a phone number and email for phone, email, or WhatsApp contact).

Veteran Application Data

If you apply for our veteran membership tier, you may provide military service details (branch, years of service, discharge type), dependents, and housing status, and in some cases a disability rating. Where such data is “sensitive personal information” or special-category data under applicable law, we process it only as described in this Privacy Policy and, where required, with your specific consent.

Profile Data

You may provide profile information (photo, headline, website or social media links). Profile data and anything you post in community spaces is publicly viewable as described in Section D of this Privacy Policy and in our Terms of Service.

Social Sign-In Data

You may sign in using a third-party identity provider (currently Google, LinkedIn, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, and Steam). When you do, that provider shares with us the information you have permitted it to share, which typically includes your name, email address, and profile picture (the exact fields depend on the provider and your privacy settings on it).

LinkedIn, specifically: when you sign in with LinkedIn, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture through LinkedIn’s sign-in service. We do not log into, read, comment on, or scrape your LinkedIn account, and we never ask for access to your contacts or messages. Separately, (a) if you purchase the LinkedIn Review career service, you provide us your own LinkedIn profile URL, which a human reviewer reads to give you feedback; and (b) if you take part in Candidate Spotlight, with the specific consents you check we may post your story, name, and photo on our own company social media accounts (including our company LinkedIn), never on your personal account.

Learning Data

We collect data about how you use our courses: enrollment, lesson progress and completion, dates you access lessons (used in part for refund eligibility), exam and assessment attempts including your individual answers and scores, and your caption and language preferences.

Community Content

Questions, answers, course reviews, reports, and other content you post in community spaces, which may be publicly viewable by other users.

Payment Data

If you purchase a plan, course, or service, we collect the purchase details (name and billing information) needed to process your order. You provide payment card details directly to our payment processor Stripe (for web and card billing) or to Apple or Google (for in-app purchases); Ableversity does not collect or store your full card numbers, card verification codes, or bank account information. We store only the identifiers the payment provider gives us (for example, a Stripe customer ID, subscription ID, or Apple/Google transaction reference).

Career Services Intake Data

For Career Services (mock interviews, resume review, LinkedIn review, on-demand sessions), you may provide a resume or other documents (stored by us in secure storage), your LinkedIn profile URL, and free-text notes or form answers. These materials are shared with Ableversity staff and, operationally, appear in our internal job-ticketing system as described in Section D.

Candidate Spotlight data

If you take part in Candidate Spotlight, you may provide a photo (such as a headshot), story answers, social media handles, and consent selections, as described in Section E.3 of our Terms of Service.

Study Lab Data

For the Study Lab add-on we store instance metadata (cloud instance identifiers, public endpoint), the administrator credentials for your instance, basic usage and health telemetry (such as instance ready/active state and activity), and start/stop events.

Referrals and Promotions

If you use the referral program, we store your referral code and the email addresses of people you invite. If you enter a promotion, sweepstakes, or survey, we collect the data the rules ask for (such as name, email, and phone number) to administer it.

Support and Communications

If you contact us (including support requests and privacy requests), we collect and store your contact information, your messages, and any device or IP information associated with the contact, to respond to you.

A.2 Data We Collect Automatically

  • System Data: technical data about your device, including IP address, device type, operating system, browser, browser language, and unique device or installation identifiers.
  • Usage Data: your interactions with the Services, including items accessed, pages viewed, features used, search queries, clicks, and time spent.
  • Approximate Geo-Location: an approximate location (such as country or city) derived from your IP address. We do not collect precise location.
  • Push Tokens: device tokens used to deliver push notifications (managed by the Expo push service), which you can turn off.
  • Server and Security Logs: standard server logs for our applications (request time, IP address, user agent; for authenticated requests also your account identifier) used for security, troubleshooting, and legal compliance.
  • Email Open Tracking: our marketing emails include a tracking pixel; when an email is opened, the open event (time and the IP address of the device that opened it) is recorded in our systems. Transactional emails (receipts, account notices) do not include this pixel.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: as described in the Cookie Policy (Section K).

A.3 A Note on AI

AI tools are used by us only at content-production time: to help produce course narration, transcribe audio for captions, translate course material and user-interface strings into 26 languages, and quality-check results. We do not send your personal content (such as resumes, exam answers, or messages) to third-party AI services. Course and interface content is not derived from your personal data.

B. How We Collect Data

  • Directly from you, when you provide it (registration, onboarding, profile, intake forms, support).
  • Automatically, when you use the Services (server logs, device data, usage data, cookies).
  • From identity providers, when you sign in with Google, LinkedIn, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, or Steam (the fields the provider is permitted to share).
  • From payment providers (Stripe, Apple, Google), limited to payment identifiers and transaction status — never full card or bank data.

C. What We Use Your Data For

  • Provide, operate, and administer the Services (accounts, enrollment, lessons, exams, captions, learning paths, labs, and the features you use);
  • Process purchases, subscriptions, add-ons, and refunds, and collect amounts owed;
  • Communicate with you: answer questions; send account, order, and service messages; and send promotional and marketing messages (which you may opt out of at any time);
  • Send in-app and push notifications (which you may turn off in settings);
  • Deliver Career Services, including sharing your intake materials with the staff who review them;
  • Distribute Candidate Spotlight content on the channels for which you have consented;
  • Secure the Services, troubleshoot, and prevent fraud and abuse (including reviewing access patterns and server logs);
  • Understand and analyze how the Services are used, track performance and purchases, and improve the Services and develop new features (using the analytics providers described in Section D);
  • Market our Services, including measuring the performance of our own advertising; we do not sell or share your personal information with advertising networks to build audiences about you, except as described in Section D;
  • Administer promotions, referrals, and surveys;
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

D. Who We Share Your Data With

We share your data only in the situations below. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it (as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended) for cross-context behavioral advertising.

  • Instructors: for courses you enroll in or ask about, we share limited learner information with the instructor or teaching staff (excluding your email address) so they can improve the course. This may include your city, country, device and browser information, referring site, and activity on the course, and any data you provide (such as your age range or gender) that is relevant to the course.
  • Other users: depending on the feature, your profile data, questions, answers, and reviews are publicly viewable by other students and instructors, as identified on the relevant feature.
  • Service providers acting on our behalf: we share the data needed to perform contracted services with providers under written agreements that restrict them to processing it for us, including:
    • Amazon Web Services (AWS): hosting, storage of course media and documents you upload (S3), cloud instances for Study Labs (EC2), and email delivery (SES);
    • Stripe: card payments, subscriptions, and refunds (card data is provided to Stripe directly and is never stored by us);
    • Apple/Google Play: in-app purchases and receipt validation;
    • Expo: push notification delivery;
    • Google and Firebase: analytics (Google Analytics 4 on web, Firebase Analytics on mobile), sign-in with Google, and Google Ads conversion measurement;
    • Identity providers: LinkedIn, Facebook, Microsoft, and Steam, when you choose to sign in through them;
    • vTiger (CRM): customer-relationship records (your name, email, onboarding survey answers, and contact preferences) so our team can contact you about services, including advisor callbacks you have requested;
    • Atlassian Jira Cloud: internal support and service-delivery tickets; Career Services tickets include your name, email, and intake materials so the assigned staff can deliver the service;
    • Calendly: scheduling of Career Services sessions (booking details are processed by Calendly under its own policy).
  • Social media platforms (Candidate Spotlight): only for the channels and items you specifically consent to under Section E.3 of our Terms of Service, using our company accounts. We do not post to your personal accounts.
  • For security and legal compliance: we may disclose data if we have a good-faith belief it is required by law, a valid subpoena or warrant, a judicial or governmental inquiry, or necessary to enforce our agreements, protect against fraud, abuse, or imminent harm, or detect and address security issues. We may also disclose to our auditors and legal advisors as needed to assess these obligations, and to our insurance counterparties where required.
  • In a business transaction: if Ableversity is involved in a merger, acquisition, divestiture, asset sale, or similar transaction (including during due diligence), your data may be transferred to the successor entity.
  • Aggregated or de-identified data: we may use and disclose data in aggregated or de-identified form (where identity has been removed or replaced with a token) for any purpose, including analytics and research.
  • With your permission: in other circumstances where you have given consent or requested the disclosure.

E. Security

We use security measures appropriate to the type and sensitivity of the data, including encryption in transit, cryptographic password hashing, access controls on our systems and internal tools, and contractual restrictions on service providers. However, no system can be 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data or of communications with us. Your password is a key part of our security system: protect it, do not share it, and change it immediately and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.

Study Lab instances are under your control once provisioned; protecting the administrator credentials we provide is your responsibility under our Terms of Service.

F. Your Rights and Choices

F.1 Communicating with You

To stop receiving promotional communications from us, use the opt-out mechanism in the communication or change your email preferences in your account. We will still send transactional and account messages (such as order confirmations and important service notices). You can turn off push notifications in your device settings or in-app settings.

F.2 Cookies and Advertising

You can manage cookies through your browser or device settings (see the Cookie Policy, Section K). To opt out of personalized advertising from participating companies, see the consumer opt-out pages for the Network Advertising Initiative and Digital Advertising Alliance (or Your Online Choices if you are in the European Union), and the Google Ads Settings page. To opt out of Google Analytics processing, see the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Apple, Android, and other platforms provide their own settings for controlling ad personalization and app data (including iOS’s App Tracking Transparency prompt).

F.3 Access, Correction, and Deletion

  • Update: log in and update your account details at any time.
  • Close your account: follow the steps in in-app settings or through our Support Center.
  • Request access, correction, restriction, or deletion of your personal data, or a copy of the data we hold about you: email support@ableversity.com. We aim to respond within 30 days. To protect you, we may require the request to come from the email on your account and we may need to verify your identity before acting.

Even after your account is closed or data deleted, some data may remain visible to others (for example, content others have copied or that third-party platforms have cached), and we may retain data where we have a lawful basis (for example, to complete a transaction, meet record-keeping or legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or in backups), as described in Section H.

F.4 Withdrawing Consent (Candidate Spotlight)

Consents you give for Candidate Spotlight (name, photo, story, and individual distribution channels) may be withdrawn at any time by contacting us; see Section E.3 of our Terms of Service for the withdrawal process and the 30-day purge of your personal content.

F.5 Children

Our Services are intended for adults; consistent with our Terms of Service, you must be at least 18 years of age to create an account or use the Services. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes we may have collected such data, contact us at support@ableversity.com and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

G. Jurisdiction-Specific Rules

G.1 California (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, which apply without regard to your residence:

  • Right to Know: request to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it, and access a copy of your personal information.
  • Right to Delete: request deletion of personal information we collected about you, subject to the exceptions in Section H.
  • Right to Correct: request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  • Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: where we collect sensitive personal information, request that we limit its use to the purposes disclosed to you.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: you will not be treated less favorably for exercising any of your rights.

As described in Section D, Ableversity does not sell or share (as those terms are defined in the CCPA/CPRA) your personal information. You may authorize an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf; we may require the request to come from the email associated with your account and may verify you and/or your agent’s identity. To exercise these rights, email support@ableversity.com. We do not currently recognize or respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.

G.2 Nevada

Nevada residents: Ableversity does not sell your personal information. If you nevertheless wish to request that we not sell personal information that you provide, use, or license for monetary or other valuable consideration to third parties, you may email support@ableversity.com with your request from the email address associated with your account.

G.3 Australia

If you are an Australian resident and have a complaint about our handling of your personal information, you may contact us first, or refer the complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): www.oaic.gov.au, enquiries@oaic.gov.au, 1300 363 992, or GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001.

G.4 UK, EEA, Switzerland, and Other International Users

If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or Switzerland, you have rights under the UK GDPR and/or EU GDPR, including the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, object to processing, request data portability, and withdraw consent at any time (where consent is the basis), as well as the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Legal bases. We process your personal data on the following bases: (a) performance of our contract with you (to provide the Services you use, process payments, and manage your account); (b) your consent, where required (for example, for Candidate Spotlight content, marketing emails where required, and, on the web, for analytics and advertising cookies — you may withdraw consent at any time through the mechanism in Section K); and (c) our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services, in security and fraud prevention, in compliance with legal obligations, and in protecting our rights, in each case balanced against your rights and freedoms.

Data transfers. As described in Section I, we transfer personal data to the United States. We implement appropriate safeguards for such transfers, including standard contractual clauses (EU/UK) and, where applicable, our or our processors’ participation in applicable data-transfer frameworks, and we enter into data processing agreements with our service providers that restrict their processing of your data to our instructions.

Data processing agreements. If you or an organization you represent wishes to enter into a data processing agreement with us, contact support@ableversity.com.

H. Data Retention and Deletion

  • While your account is active: we retain your personal data to provide the Services and as described in this Privacy Policy.
  • After deletion: when you close your account or we complete a verified deletion request, we delete or anonymize your personal data from our systems, best-effort delete associated records with our service providers (CRM, ticketing), and delete files you uploaded (such as resumes and photos). The following are retained where required or as necessary: (a) transaction and payment records required for tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes; (b) data necessary to comply with a legal obligation, a legitimate claim, or to resolve disputes; (c) data in system backups until they are rotated out; (d) aggregated or de-identified data; and (e) Candidate Spotlight consent and approval records, which we retain as permanent legal artifacts after your personal content (photo, story) is purged within 30 days of withdrawal.
  • Study Lab: when your subscription ends, your instance and its data are decommissioned; billing records are retained as described above.

I. International Data Transfers

Ableversity is headquartered in Georgia, USA, and processes personal data primarily in the United States (including on AWS infrastructure in the United States). When you use the Services from outside the United States, you consent to the transfer, storage, and processing of your data in the United States, and where applicable to processing by our group companies and service providers as described in Section D. If you are located in the UK, EEA, or Switzerland, that data is transferred outside of those regions under the safeguards described in Section G.4.

J. Updates and Contact Information

J.1 Modifications

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will notify you by email, in-app notice, or as required by applicable law, together with a summary of the key changes. Unless stated otherwise, changes are effective when posted, and your continued use of the Services after the effective date means you agree to the revised policy. The revised policy supersedes all prior policies.

J.2 Questions

If you have any questions, concerns, or disputes about this Privacy Policy — or to exercise any of the rights described in it (including as our designated privacy contact) — please contact us at support@ableversity.com or through our Support Center.

J.3 Interpretation

Capitalized terms used but not defined in this Privacy Policy have the meanings given in our Terms of Service. Any non-English version of this Privacy Policy is provided for convenience; the English version controls in case of conflict.

K. Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy was last updated on October 22, 2026 and is part of the Privacy Policy above.

K.1 What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. They are used to collect, store, and share information about your activity across websites, to remember your visits, and to make sites easier to use. We use session cookies (which expire when you close your browser) to identify you during a single session, and persistent cookies (which remain until their set expiry) for longer-term recognition, like “keep me signed in”. Mobile applications generally do not use browser cookies; they use app-level storage and device and installation identifiers as described in Section A.2.

K.2 Cookies and Similar Technologies We Use

  • AbleU web application — strictly necessary (always on): authentication and session, security (login protection, fraud detection), and settings that make the app work (such as purchase processing and language preference). If you disable these, the app will not function correctly.
  • AbleU web application — preferences: remember your settings (such as preferred language or caption settings).
  • AbleU web application — analytics (only with your consent): Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand usage, performance, and events (such as page views, sign-up, login, checkout, and purchase). GA4 may set cookies including the GA cookies, and you can opt out as described in K.4.
  • AbleU web application — advertising (only with your consent): Google Ads conversion measurement to measure the performance of our own advertising. We use only measurement; we do not upload customer lists or hashed email addresses to advertising platforms.
  • ableversity.com website: the website (a separate WordPress site with its own pages) may use analytics and third-party measurement tags (for example, Google Analytics and the LinkedIn Insight Tag used to measure advertising performance); see the website’s own notice for details.
  • Mobile application: Firebase Analytics (an app-level SDK, not browser cookies) and the platform’s own ad identifiers, each controlled by your device settings (including the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt and Android permissions).

Consent: on the web, analytics and advertising cookies are loaded only after you give consent through our consent banner. Strictly necessary and preferences cookies are always set. You can change your choice from the cookie preferences control provided; the choice is stored for 12 months.

K.3 Why We Use Them

  • Authentication and security: to log you in, protect your security, and detect and prevent spam, abuse, and other activity that violates our agreements.
  • Preferences: to remember your browser settings and choices (such as preferred language) so that we do not have to ask each time you visit.
  • Analytics and research: to understand how people use the Services, test versions to see which features and content users prefer, and measure email opens (see F.1 for how to opt out of marketing emails).
  • Personalized content: to show you a personalized list of recommended courses and relevant content.
  • Advertising: to measure the performance of our own advertising campaigns. If you opt out of advertising cookies, you will continue to see ads, but they will not be tailored to you.

K.4 Your Choices

  • Most browsers automatically accept cookies but let you change their settings to refuse or alert you. If you refuse, some interactive features of the Services may not be available. See your browser’s support documentation for how to manage cookies on your device.
  • To control advertising cookies used by participating companies, see the consumer opt-out pages for the Network Advertising Initiative and Digital Advertising Alliance, or the Your Online Choices site if you are located in the European Union.
  • To opt out of Google’s display advertising or to customize Google Display Network ads, visit the Google Ads Settings page.
  • To opt out of allowing Google Analytics to use your data for analytics or enrichment, see the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Apple iOS, Android OS, and other platforms each provide their own means of controlling in-app personalized advertising and app data; see your device’s settings.

For general information about targeting cookies and how to disable them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.

K.5 Updates

From time to time we may update this Cookie Policy. If we make a material change, we will notify you by posting the Cookie Policy with a new effective date and, where appropriate, in advance of the change with reasonable notice. If you have any questions about our use of cookies, please email us at support@ableversity.com.
